Gameballs - 13th May 2004
We're 1-5 with our World Bowl hopes all but gone. Only a major miracle would see us through to the season finale in Dusseldorf. Even though the possibility is slim, it is possible. No matter what the outcome of this next game, it would mean a lot to the team if we had as many fans turn out for the last 2 home games as possible. No one likes to lose but it doesn't mean you just walk out on the team. After the game the players were downbeat but there was still talk of becoming the team they know they can be even though our record may suggest otherwise. The defense is still encouraging our offense to do better. They are still challenging the offense as a unit, and sometimes personally, to step up and put points on the board. Sometimes you'll even see players getting into each others face and challenge them to do better. In my eyes this week of practice has actually been our best so far. The offense came out with a new determination and the defense showed their usual passion of play. While reading an article in "First Down" today by Andy Colvin about our defense being the best we've ever had in silver and blue, I must express that this group of young guys is by far the best that I have worked with since I started with the league. Why you may ask? One word: Character. Oh, by the way. I do believe Rob Hart is a better kicker than Jesus.......(Angoy).
