Cheer Wars as Claymores Girls Take on Edinburgh Rocks

The cheerleaders from the Scottish Claymores have laid down the challenge to their rivals from basketball club Edinburgh Rocks by inviting them to perform at Murrayfield this weekend.

The Claymores and Rocks cheerleaders - known as The Rockettes - will each perform a set on stage in the Murrayfield backfields before this Sunday's match with Frankfurt Galaxy.

The crowd will then be invited to cheer for the group they consider to have the best show-stopping routine.

Pom-poms could fly, but Claymores cheerleader and events manager Debbie Jackson is in no doubt which group will come out on top.

She said: "The Claymores are the best by far and we aim to prove it this weekend. To be honest, it's all a bit of friendly rivalry and both squads are taking the competition in the spirit it's intended.

"Many of the Rockettes squad are former Claymores girls who decided to try their luck on the basketball scene so they'll be determined to show that what they do is best.

"However, I'm sure the Claymores fans won't let us down when it comes to cheering for the eventual winner!"
