Mark, a sports science student at Sheffield Hallam University, is the only Scot involved with Team Europe and makes his second appearance at the Global Junior Championships after being selected to travel to New Orleans last year. He said: "I am really excited to be representing Europe again, although it hasn't really sunk in. The last few days have been hectic and I've even had to rearrange university exams to go to the States, but I can't wait. It's a wonderful experience to be around the host city during Super Bowl week and the quality of football at the Global Juniors is always very high.
"I feel more prepared know what to expect from the Championships this year. You go from being a big fish in a small pond of British football to being a small fish in a big pond over in the States, but there is no other challenge like it available anywhere else. Teams such as Canada and the USA are always favorites to win, but it's not as if we are going without a chance. Our team is excellent and our coaches are first class."
Scottish Claymores National Coach STEPHEN MCCUSKER added: "Mark worked hard to get on the team and has consistently been the best wide receiver in Scotland over the last three years. Mark led the British Senior League in receiving last year with the East Kilbride Pirates, his first season competing at that level. The fact that he had more receptions and yards than a number of ex-national players in the British Senior League show he is a quality football player."
