Claymores help Stags/Sundevils to reach £1,000 mark
While in the NFL a benchmark for running backs is to reach one thousand yards, BCAFL ' s Southampton Stags have set themselves a mark of raising a grand for charity. It hasn't been possible though without a little help from their friends.

The Stags are setting themselves up for the grand barrier with something that is quite literally hair raising. Following last years success six members are having their chests waxed and shaved by girls from FYEO night club on Valetine's day. The club will also raffle off prizes from sponsor Subway. The majority of money raised will go to the Meningitis research foundation. The disease sadly claimed the life of Sundevil/Hull Shark Jon Mcmillan in 2001.
Sponsors have developed an interest in the club with Subway showing an interest in extending their deal with the side. Also current sponsors RFC recruitment are looking to develop the current deal further.
Also the club has been active in the community by helping Swaythling primary school in Southampton with their American pen pal program. The Stags with the help of Jo Davis (a former Bristol Bullet) tutored the 8-9 year olds on the game and gave them a go throwing and passing the football. The afternoon was a great success and the school is asking for more sessions on American Football.
However with all the off the field activity happening the Stags are firmly focused still on improving their on the field performance. The team has been working closely with senior team the Southern Sundevils and the improvements have been beginning to show on the field. Both have been helped by the publicity gained from the success of Claymores kicker Rob Hart a former player of the Sundevils and ex BCAFL player.
