Kickoff Classic to Tempt Old Timers to Stirling

It's time for all has-beens or wannabees to dust off the Neumanns, polish the cleats, and iron their flags as the Scottish Claymores announce the return of the NFLE Kickoff Classic.

To the relief of teams everywhere, the Gymrats will not be competing!
The event, for senior players aged 17 and over, will be held at Forthbank, the spiritual home of Scottish Flag Football, on Sat 29th March. Registration starts at mid-day with kick-off at 1pm and the first eight teams to enter will play in a two division round-robin event with the winners (fitness allowing) contesting the final.

The reigning champions, The Gymrats, who won the NFL Kickoff Classic in September, will not be competing this time around - their star players such as Stuart Hare and Rob Hart are otherwise engaged that weekend preparing for the start of the 2003 NFL Europe League season!

Organiser Jim Burns said: "It is hoped the Claymores team bus will pull in for some time to witness the incredible athleticism on show as they are on a tour of Stirling that afternoon.

"Some of the players taking part in the Kickoff Classic may even arrive as part-time flag players and leave as full time Claymore players if the coach likes what he sees. Mind you, pigs might also fly."

Teams wishing to enter this event should contact Jim Burns at the Claymores office by e-mail jburns@claymores.co.uk jburns@claymores.co.uk or post: Scottish Claymores, 205 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5QD. Be sure to book early, as there will be a great demand for places.
