The game was a repeat of the same fixture last weekend when Glasgow registered a 22 -12 victory. However this time it was the Wolves who won with a 21 - 12 score line. But the win wasn't plain sailing for the Wolves. Glasgow opening the games scoring with a 65 yard touchdown pass on their first play. The Wolves Defense instantly made adjustments and it would take Glasgow almost the rest of the game to score again.
Indeed it was Defense which provided the Wolves first Touchdown with Peter Larson returning and Interception for 19 yards and the score. Ex-Claymore and a local Robert Grant slotted in the extra point to give the Wolves their first converted kick in the league. While this was news worthy on any other day - the team had far more to concentrate on. With the Capital's side now 7-6 in the lead they never again gave up their lead. Both teams drove up and down the field in the Second quarter - but neither could score and the half time lead remained the same.
The Wolves breakthrough came in the 3rd quarter when Wolves Offensive MVP on the day David Molloy rushed in for a 16 yard touchdown. The extra point attempt for 2 failed leaving the Wolves now 13 points to 6 in the lead.
Not soon after Molloy once again scored a touchdown running this time from the 3 yard line. On the day Molloy had over 112 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns. The two point conversion was successful with a scoring pass from Graham Tanahill to Special Teams MVP Campbell Lewis.
While the focus was on the offense the Wolves defense was also playing well, often tackling Glasgow in the backfield before they reached the line of scrimmage. Defensive MVP James Kerr lead the way for unit and personally recorded a number of sacks and QB pressures. With Edinburgh playing soft coverage to see out the game Glasgow made do with a consolation Touchdown minutes from the end of the game.
"Sadly we can't rest on our laurels - it's only 2 weeks till Dundee and if we want to keep the momentum we have to work hard there as well. But I think we can take a few moments today to reflect on a hard won victory and savor the feeling." - Peter Laird - Wolves Head Coach.
