To celebrate the selection of the 10th anniversary Scottish Claymores Cheerleading Squad, the doors are being thrown open to the fans to view the Grand Final of the selection process on Sunday October 19.
This is the first time ever that people have been able to watch how the dance squad is chosen.
Forty finalists will be chosen at the Preliminary audition on Saturday October 4 at Healthland International. These finalists will train for the next two weeks, undergoing fitness tests and rehearsals for the Finals Show, to be held at The Garage, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, on October 19.
Introduced by Clyde One presenters, they will perform their newly learned dance routines and also put on individual talent presentations to show off their own style. There will be surprise guests and a full entertainment show. A panel of celebrity judges will have the tough job of picking the final 24 to make up the 2004 Scottish Claymores Cheerleading Squad. The successful group will be announced at the end of the show.
Friends and family of the finalists as well as Claymores fans and members of the public are encouraged to come along and give their support not only to the nervous finalists, but to the Evening Times Magic Million appeal. Entry is free to the event, but donations will be accepted for the appeal. There will be a prize draw with fantastic prizes on offer.
Cheerleading and Special Events Manager Debbie Jackson explained why the event has gone public this year. "The tryouts finals are always very entertaining, with the finalists putting a lot of work into their performances and costumes.
"We wanted to let everyone else see these performances and also help our favourite charity appeal along the way. "The fans get the chance to cheer on the cheer squad and follow their favourites from the very start of their cheerleading careers.
