Scottish Claymores - American Football in Scotland

Cheertastic!

Almost 100 young hopefuls turned out last Saturday, October 4, to try to impress their way onto the 10th anniversary Scottish Claymores Cheer squad.

Almost 100 young hopefuls turned out last Saturday for the cheerleader tryouts
Healthland International in Bath Street, Glasgow, was the venue for the toughest preliminary round the squad has ever seen.

After learning a tricky routine from Cheerleader Manager, Debbie Jackson, the ladies had a short time to perfect their moves before performing them for a group of judges made up of Claymores staff and former cheerleaders. After a series of cuts, 44 were chosen to go through to the Finals Show on Sunday October 19.

For the next two weeks, the finalists will be attending a mini dance camp, completing fitness testing as well as well as rehearsing for the charity Finals Show that will be raising cash for the Evening Times Magic Million campaign.

The 44 will perform their dance routine and also put on a talent presentation at the event, which takes place at The Garage, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. A panel of celebrity judges will then choose the final 24 that will make up the 2004 Claymores Cheerleaders.

Family, friends and fans are encouraged to come along to cheer on the competitors while also supporting a good cause.

There will be fantastic prizes on offer and you can watch SKY Sports film the whole event for their Football Sunday show.

Doors open at 1.30pm, show begins 2pm.
