Weekend Festival of Youth Football
This past weekend, October 4th and 5th, saw the top youth teams from this years Scottish Flag Football Association (SFFA) and British Youth American Football Association (BYAFA) seasons meet to determine the end of year champions. On Sunday October 5th, the Scottish Final of the Scottish Conference of BYAFA was held in Lanark, it was a rematch of last years final with the Clyde Valley Hawks playing the North Lanarkshire Rams. The Hawks managed their second straight Scottish Youth Final win with a victory over their North Lanarkshire rivals, the Hawks scoring 36 points while the Rams scored 8.
The Hawks now go on to face the Lancashire Wolverines at Dewsbury Rams Stadium outside Leeds on Sunday the 19th of October to determine the UK Champions.
Scott Couper, Scottish Claymores Grassroots Coordinator said: "This weekend again showed the great leaps that the youth game is taking in this country. The quality and quantity of players continues to increase. I cannot praise enough all of the volunteer coaches and managers who have made this another great year in the development of the game."
