The Scottish Claymores 10th Anniversary Football Festival - 23-25 June 2006 - Further Information
The Scottish Claymores 10th Anniversary Football Festival will take place on the 23-25 June 2006. Further details are provided here. Why we are doing this :
The aim of the event is to re-energise the Claymores Fan base. To give Claymores fans a chance to come out of the wood work again to celebrate the achievement of winning the Worldbowl in 1996. To help fans get back in touch with one another.
To promote the sport once again in Scotland.
How we will do this:
Three Key Phases
1. Friday 23rd June – Welcome Drinks.
2. Saturday 24th June - Meadowbank American Football Festival.
3. Saturday 24th June – Touchdown Claymores Party.
Who is leading this:
The entire event is being run by the Scottish Gridiron Association’s Douglas Adamson and Touchdown Claymores’ Steve Dalgleish. We have not asked for any help from NFL Europe or the NFL for the event. We understand many of you will still be angry over the demise of the Claymores – as are we. So we cannot stress this enough this is a FAN RUN event.
More Details.
Friday 23rd of June – Welcome Drinks
This will be a casual event and an ice breaker. Suggested venues are The Caley Sample Rooms. 8pm to late.
Saturday 24th of June – Meadowbank.
We have for the day 3 sections of Meadowbank. The main field, the stand and the concourse.
We will use the main field for competitive action from 10am to 1pm Flag Football (Scottish Flag Football Association have been invited to discuss options). and 3pm to 6pm Kited Football (Edinburgh Wolves Vs Glasgow Tigers).
We will use the Stand to watch the games and any presentations from previous Claymores players.
We will use the concourse as a meet and greet area hopefully including
* “Photo wall” of Claymores Photos donated to make a Memory Wall .
* “Where are they now?” wall where fans can put up photos of other fans they’ve lost contact with asking for contact details.
* We will have an area which we hope will have some entertainment in the form of video games.
* Show Claymores Highlight Videos.
* There will be tables and chairs for people to sit down and chat.
* Merchandise swap shop and possibly sales. * Music and dancing as well we hope.
The main Meadowbank event will be free for the general public – but it’s going to cost us money to run the event so if you think you can help us raise some funds all the better.

Where do you come in?
We would love some help even a couple of hours would make a difference.
Perhaps you want to get more involved and take on one aspect of the whole weekend and put together a team to help you.
Maybe you have an idea how to make things better and want to try it.
If you have Claymores video tape (that you shot your self is even better) or Photos you can donate (we can’t promise to get them back to you) let us know.
Or if you want to help but can’t afford the time we can take a donation to help cover the costs of the event (we’ll make sure you get credited as a supporter of the event).
Maybe there’s something we are missing and you can supply.
It doesn’t matter really what you want to do.. if you want to help – we will find you something to do never fear!
And if you don’t want to help that’s cool too. But please come along to the day to support the idea of this great sport and the spirit of friendship the claymores brought to us all.
Who knows, if this event is a roaring success – maybe next year we’ll organise something similar where you live! Imagine it a Claymores Party once a year all over Scotland. Football, Friendship, Fun!
When can you start?
Simply send an e-mail to media@claymores.com to register your support for the event. If you want to help put “Help” in the subject line – if you just want to say good luck and see you on the weekend put “Good Luck” in the subject line.
Visit touchdownclaymores.com as well to talk about the whole day.
And SPREAD THE WORD TO CLAYMORES FANS – you can take the NFLE out of Scotland but you can’t take the Claymores out of our hearts!
