Close down auction raises £1,500 for children's charities
GENEROUS Claymores fans helped raise £1,500 during the club's closure auction at the front office headquarters in Glasgow on Sunday - and picked up some mementos of the Claymores in the process.Hundreds of fans queued around the block at St. Vincent Street to Bothwell Street to cram into the Claymores Glasgow headquarters one last time - and helped raise £750 for Royal Hospitals for Sick Children in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Among the items being auctioned off for charity were old Claymores player gameshirts, balls and a helmet worn by linebacker Ryan Myers which raised £120 for the children's charities. Copies of the Claymores book 'How Bout Them Claymores and old programmes were also on sale with the proceeds going to the children's hospitals.
Claymores outgoing GM Steve Livingstone, said: "The fans' response to our open day was moving. We never anticipated so many would turn out to say goodbye and to help support two worthy causes. I would like to thank all of them for attending from all over Scotland and giving us their messages of good luck and support."
