McCallum, Sims, Hawthorne and Fuller Reach Claymores Hall of Fame

THE SCOTTISH Claymores have announced four new inductees to the club's Hall of Fame as voted by Claymores fans on the club website www.claymores.com

 Duane Hawthorne
Duane Hawthorne
Among the four former players inducted are World Bowl '96 heroes PAUL McCALLUM and JAMES FULLER. Joining them are 1999 offensive lineman BARRY SIMS, now starring with the Oakland Raiders and 2000 NFL Europe League defensive MVP DUANE HAWTHORNE.

The four new inductees join former General Manager WILL WILSON and defensive line coach JIM TOMSULA who were inducted last month as honorary members.

Claymores fans were invited to select FOUR players from previous Claymores teams, up until and including the 2002 season, to join the 16 current Hall of Fame members who include Super Bowl winners Aaron Stecker and George Coghill, former head coach Jim Criner and fan favourites such as Dante Hall, Siran Stacy, Yo Murphy and Marco Rivera as well as new inductees Wilson and Tomsula.

With hundreds of fans voting McCallum, currently playing in the Canadian Football League, took most votes with Sims and Hawthorne following close behind. World Bowl '96 free safety Fuller was added after being on previous season nominations.

Playing in the same season as GAVIN HASTINGS, No.5 McCallum became the first Claymores kicker to hit a kick over 50 yards - a 51-yarder against the Monarchs in Week 9 - for four points. He scored 34 points connecting on 11 of 15 field goals. He also punted for the Claymores in '96 averaging 35.1 yards with a long of 48, while also making three tackles on special teams.

He was a key player in the Claymores 32-27 World Bowl '96 victory over Frankfurt Galaxy converting another 50-yard kick in the fourth quarter to move the Claymores clear of any Frankfurt comeback. McCallum also hit a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Claymores outgoing General Manager STEVE LIVINGSTONE, said: "It is great to see Paul, Barry, Duane and James gaining the recognition they deserve in the final induction to our Hall of Fame."
