Stecker shines for Saints

SCOTTISH Claymores' World Bowl 2000 MVP AARON STECKER scored a 42-yard touchdown run en-route to rushing for 108 yards on 18 carries to help the New Orleans Saints record a 28-25 overtime victory over the St. Louis Rams in Week 3 of NFL action.

Stecker, making his first start for the Saints in place of injured running back Duece McAllister, showed the form that made him the NFL Europe League's top-ranked player in 2000 as he marched the Saints to victory. Stecker, who also added four receptions for 20 yards as the 2-1 Saints became the first team to beat the Rams in St. Louis in 16 regular season games, was one of four NFL Europe League veterans to score touchdowns during Sunday's NFL Week 3 action.

The former Claymores' rusher was not shocked by his display, saying: "Hey, I'm a running back. It's not like they pulled me out of the front office and said: 'Deuce is out, do you know how to play running back.' I believe in myself and my team mates had no doubt in me."

Two former Claymores veterans were in fine form for the Kansas City Chiefs, although it wasn't enough to stop the AFC West club falling to 0-3 with a 24-21 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans.

Wide receiver DANTE HALL (Claymores 2001) rushed three times for 22 yards, caught five passes for 32 yards, added three kickoff returns for 108 yards and an 11-yard punt runback.

Greenock kicker LAWRENCE TYNES (Claymores 2002) notched three PATs, while. J.J. MOSES (Claymores 2002) returned four kickoffs for 102 yards and two punts 31 yards for the Texans.
