Pirates and O's battle at UK's biggest NFL Kick Off Carnival

THE UK'S biggest NFL Kick Off event will take place in Glasgow this Sunday (September 12) when over 1,000 amateur gridiron players will compete in the NFL Kick Off Carnival at Scotstoun Stadium.

2004 Opening KickoffThe new NFL season kicks off fully this Sunday with Week 1 action on the road to Super Bowl Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville next February.

The Claymores will be hosting flag football action throughout the day with 15 teams with 150 players at cadet and junior level competing to become NFL Kick Off champions. The event will also see afternoon senior action when the East Kilbride Pirates take on the London O's in the semi-final of the British Senior League at 1pm.

Entry to the event at Scotstoun is free with the flag action starting at 10am. Teams are invited to register at 9am. For more information on the flag event contact Scott Couper at the Claymores on 0141 222 3800.

East Kilbride take on the London O's in the BSL semi-final, kick off 1pm. The game will present a major challenge for East Kilbride as London have been British Champions for the last seven years, and while their invincibility has finally been breached this year, they will still provide formidable opposition.

East Kilbride go into this tie with one or two injury doubts still in place. While safety Ross Templeton returns after eight weeks out, it will be a late decision about wide receiver Mark Squire. He returned from the European Championships with not only a Gold Medal and four touchdown receptions, but also with a couple of minor injuries.

The game is sure to be a thrilling encounter, and the Pirates are hoping that they will have the backing of a large and noisy crowd as they try to dethrone the current champions and progress to the Final at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield on September 26th.
